Waited until I had a few hundred rounds through the pistol build using this upper before writing a review. My initial impressions are positive. My rating has it as a 5, but only because there is not an option for 4.5. This upper is mated to an NFA 9mm lower, and a NFA 9mm BCG so the review covers how they work together. Pros: 1. It is a very attractive combination, fits together well, as you would expect. 2. I fired it first with a dedicated 9mm buffer, then switched to a standard carbine buffer and the NFA buffer spacer. Both worked well together. 3. After one or two hick ups getting the bolt to actually stay to the rear after the last round, it has worked pretty much as advertised. Cons: 1. Its a little pricey. I bought this because I wanted at least one of my AR's to fall into the "no blemishes" category. So, paid the price for it. Not complaining, it just ended up being the most expensive AR I have ever done. Not by much, but price is a factor. 2. The LRBHO technology looks to be a bit flimsy. It is not, but if you look at it, it really is just a piece of thin steel bent a few different ways and slotted through the receiver. On the plus side, if this part ever breaks during operation, it does not look like no having it in place would affect the operation of the weapon at all. And, it looks like it would be fairly easy to be repaired, if you could get a spare part. 3. It is not bullet proof. While I quickly found out how to over come the first failure, it is obvious to me the part can end up in the wrong position an not work, if things line up wrong way. Not a "combat" solution to the problem, but then again it will not stop the weapon from functioning if it fails. It only failed on me once, so this is not really a big deal to me (after 50 plus magazine changes, have not seen it happen again, either with factory ammo or reloads). It just so happens this is the most fun AR I have ever shot. I find myself shooting it every time I go to the range, regardless of what else I take. So, 4.5 stars. This upper is not perfect, but it is the best solution to the problem I have seen so far. I highly recommend it to a builder who just wants a really good looking, well made 9mm AR that uses Glock magazines. (and I have used it with Glock knock off mags also, no problem).

I purchased this upper a few weeks ago. Got it in and something, my fault, uppers fault, something was not working right with the rear detaining pin alignment. After some frustration and maybe some over reaction on my part, NFA took that back with my lower and did some small work and BOOM, got it back and everything works like a charm. I have not had a chance to fire the weapon yet and still have some more building to do but NFA hooked me up and got whatever the issue was resolved with pretty quick turnaround in my opinion. I would absolutely recommend this company to a friend and look forward to finally shooting my AR 9 when I am finished. Thanks for the help NFA and for resolving whatever the issue was.
